The Eggenberg Brewery, founded in the 10th century, is one of the oldest breweries in Europe. It is located in the town of Forchdorf, in the Austrian Alps, on the banks of the river Alm, which is the source of the water used in production. Today the Eggenberg brewery is considered one of the leading breweries in Europe specializing in the production of special beers. Under the guidance of master brewer Thomas Lugmair, the brewery brews the liquid gold of Upper Austria.
Together with his fellow brewers, he works on new recipes, selects the raw materials and conducts constant quality control.
The commercial activity of Castle Eggenberg began in 1681. Since 1803 the brewery has been owned by the Störch family.

St. Claus beer is brewed once a year on December 6, fermented and left to mature for 10 months in the cellars of the brewery. Listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the strongest beer in the world. The aroma is full of hints of nuts, smoky malt and caramel. Rich and complex, rich, slightly dense taste of beer with malt and sweet fruit tones ends with a long, slightly spicy, semi-dry malt aftertaste. Perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Dark brown in color, has a thin creamy foam, the aroma is very strong, containing nuances of dried fruit, raisins, caramel, brandy, spicy rye, dark oak and subtle smoke. The taste is powerful, a little sweet, with nuances of port, dark bread crust, very pithy and complex. On the aftertaste there is a slight pleasant bread bitterness. Goes well with dark roast meats, ham, gravy and lard dishes. Also ideal as an accompaniment to chocolate and creamy desserts such as cream brulee, or as a dessert drink.
Autumn beer, which is brewed in the classic tradition of amber lager. It is characterized by a brilliant amber color, pleasant aroma with subtle caramel-malt and honey notes and attractive malt flavor with a long aftertaste. It is the perfect accompaniment to spicy dishes, chanterelles, roasted game or pumpkin cream soup.
Non-alcoholic Austrian Pilsner brewed on Alpine spring water with the addition of bitter Bavarian and aromatic Jatec hops. Has a bright bitterness and long aftertaste. Winner of the "European Beer Star 2017" award.
Samiklaus Barrick is brewed once a year on December 6 and aged for 10 months in steel tanks in the brewery's cellars, then, aged for 5 weeks in Chardonnay oak barrels from Dalton Estate Winery in Israel, located in the heart of the Galilee region. This special beer is perhaps the rarest in the world. It can be aged in bottle for years and over time becomes more complex, with a creamy, warm aftertaste.
