Biermanufaktur Engel

The history of this family brewery began in 1738 in the town of Crailsheim in the administrative district of Stuttgart. A pub brewery was opened and produced an average of 150 buckets (approximately 1,000 liters) of beer per year - all for the pub's needs. In 1877 the Fach family, led by Georg, then bought both the restaurant and the brewery and soon began brewing beer for sale. Georg's eldest son Wilhelm began to approach the family business with the tenacity of an entrepreneur, investing money in the family business and modernizing production. In 1903 steam boilers were installed in the brewery and in 1907 Wilhelm's younger brother Friedrich joined the family business.
During the Second World War the brewery was completely destroyed by bombing and only a few years later, thanks to incredible efforts, a completely new brewery was put into operation. The owners of the brewery abandoned the traditional clip bottle and began to produce beer in unusual glass bottles with a screw aluminum cap.
